“Roll ‘Em Pete”, originally recorded in December 1938 by Big Joe Turner and pianist Pete Johnson. The recording is regarded as one of the most important precursors of what later became known as rock and roll. This transcription is from German Boogie Man Vince Weber’s version. It’s got a very easy to play bass-line and not too difficult for intermediate players.
We haven’t included the lyrics as it’s mostly played just as a lively boogie woogie without vocals, plus Vince’s version has different lyrics to the original. If you want to sing along, you will be able to find the original lyrics on-line via google. Listen to how it sounds below:
